Sir Alf...
Please never call "Cressy "the Banned Creswell ever again.
Another point Coufal has just came back from injury.
Antonio was Immence against Sevilla.
We lost Zouma early in the Game.
Dawson had Nose trouble.
The Implications of resting players at this time of year is Dodgy.
If we were down there,as we were not so long ago, nobody would like it.
Support your Club with Optimism.
Sick listening to who we should have signed in the Window.
I as a business person won't buy for the Sake of the Pressure.
Unlike United signed Ronaldo.

Re: ⚽ Brentford v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 2-0
It was disappointing yesterday for sure. We just struggled to compete with them physically ( same as Arsenal against Palace) and they looked sharper and stronger especially up front where our back 4, shorn of Zouma, struggled at times. Their high press too saw us giving it away regularly. Franks? their manager got his tactics right and with our team having played on the Thursday we just didn't have any answer. The 2 or 3% drop in energy makes a big difference at the top level of the game ( aka "small margins").

We had lots of possession but you could see they were happy for us to keep the ball in safe areas as we really struggled to create anything in the final 3rd and even when we did get in advanced position just about every player made the wrong decision or passed it back to them or played a pass that was not quick or accurate enough. Soucek was especially guilty, Fornals ( often the player to provide an assist) too and even Rice was giving it back to them when we got the final 3rd. To be fair, they kind of did what we do and played 2 blocks of 4, sometimes 5 in the midfield and we just lacked the pace, skill/technique, guile/creativity to get through or around them. Their goalkeeper did not have a shot to save of note and even our set pieces were poor.

Was it tiredness? Yes that was a factor no doubt. But even when fully fit and not playing Thursdays we have had games already this season against well organised teams that sit deep with 2 banks of players that we simply cannot get around or through. We need some better players / different options and playing only 14 most of the season caught up with us as expected.

Antonio, in hindsight, should have been rested. He was especially poor and for me Cresswell showed that this has to be the last season as our first choice left back. Again got done for pace as he has been vulnerable to for the last few seasons even when playing well generally.

Coufal? Looked like a bloke who was rusty and like Cresswell vulnerable to pace which leads to the return leg in France. I expect Fredericks to return for that and Johnson for the banned Cresswell and that may actually help us. The biggest issue though is Zouma. How the geezer was not yellow carded ( or was he ) for the tackle that forced him off I do not know but the ref gave us next to nothing and was a real "homer" from what I could see.

Anyway, lets hope a few days rest, a medical miracle for Zouma and Antonio somehow being able to hit a cow's arse with a banjo all return this Thursday and we do the unexpected and get thru.

What a nauseating, apologist this RM10 cunt is. He clearly never wasted his time and money and went to the game, if he did the soppy cunt might be seeing things a bit differently instead of the cliched 'move on' nonsense. The fella offers no analysts except 'move on'. Brilliant.

I dunno why this thread doesn’t get locked. Everyone’s had their say. Now we move onto Lyon.

I see some gimp was quick to close down my ‘team for Lyon’ thread as though we’re not allowed to move ahead.

We still must mourn this loss to Brentford FFS.

I would expect to see moaning on a match thread in a game where we lost against Brentford, in probably one of our worst performances of the season, personally.

Not a thing but not moaning excessively

I’m just enjoying the situation we are in, we are clearly punching above ourselves with the squad size, save your moaning.

Re: ⚽ Brentford v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 2-0
Different types of 'pace' in the game, though, Huffers.

One of the reasons we have been surprisingly successful under Moyes is that we have generally played a high-tempo game. Often, the reason we have been better than opponents is that we have generally played at a higher general pace/tempo than them and worked harder than them as a unit - it has all been a bit lung-bursting and we have the players for that. They may not be quick individually, like Soucek, but over 90 minutes they are going to cover more ground than a lazy sprinter.

The problem has been that as the season gets on, and there is less energy in the legs after 40+ games already, then we can't sustain that. Fatigue is taking its toll on us because we don't have the squad to make canny rests/changes. Happened last season, too.

Then you have the Theo Walcott 'straight line' pace of individuals. Obviously that is important, especially for teams that counter (as we often do). In 1-on1s, it's often the difference between scoring or not. But as Walcott shows - it's not enough simply to be extremely quick running in straight lines. It's also about what you do when you have the ball.

And if you are extremely quick individually, play at a high tempo, make good decisions when you have the ball and can press opponents high up thre pitch...then you're generally somebody like Mane, Salah or Ronaldo...and we can't afford you!

We always want all of our players to be the full package. But if they all were, they'd be earning £300,000 a week or more at Real Madrid. That's a harsh reality.

Antonio would probably struggle less and score more if his instincts were to actually run into the penalty area rather following it to the area where the ball already is.

I wish I had your optimism over Vlasic.

So far, he's been one of our worst pound for pound signings ever, IMO.

Re: ⚽ Brentford v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 2-0
Vlasic started to show some glimpses he could of had a start. I am absolutely puzzled how Oko-Flex hasnt been given any game time in the prem this season.

Left Back everyone said how good Longelo did, not been in a squad since.

I love Moyes but theres some pretty glaring questions over squad selection and building.

With the Man Utd and Arsenal results on Saturday we were back in the mix for 5th/6th place and Europa league qualification again so it was understandable he put out his best team. It's just that they played shit.

"Tell me one whu fan who would complain about resting our core players yesterday"

I would. Because it would highlight how shit Moyes has been with squad management, yet again. Who would we play up front? Who would paly left back?

Re: ⚽ Brentford v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 2-0
Rotation is only possible if you have the options - none upfront, none at left back, Noble's legs are gone so none central midfield and limited elsewhere.
Leicester made 7 changes yesterday and still won so with a few more players - the right players it's possible.

This no-win situation is fucking bollox.
Tell me one whu fan who would complain about resting our core players yesterday, knowing we have a 2nd leg quarter final coming in Thursday?

It's absolutely fucking insane management by Moyes.
Zouma, Rice, Soucek, Fornaals and Antonio in particular played with 10 men last Thursday and any sensible manager would rest them
Fredericks, Diop, Noble, Kral, Benrahma and Vlasic should have started. End of story.

Hopefully we can change our mentality, but if we lose on Thursday you know who to blame.
